CROSSVILLE, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team shot their highest round of the Mid-South Conference Spring Classic during Tuesday's final round to finish the championship in a tie for third place.
The Blue Raiders dropped one spot, from second to third, over the final 18 holes and posted a 916 (312-289-315). The event was played at Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain a par-72, 6,928-yard design.
Emil Gruhn provided the Blue Raiders highest finish at the event in a tie for fifth place and four strokes off the lead. Gruhn posted a 225 (77-72-76) and managed the best scoring average on par-4s at a 4.13 stroke average. It marks his fourth top-5 finish of the season.
Tennessee Southern won the event with a 906 (312-290-304). Cumberland (Tenn.) took second place with a 908 (304-306-298). The Phoenix claimed the MSC regular-season title with the result after taking first place during the fall event earlier this season.
Sebastian Sandin took home a 12th place finish following a three-round total of 229 (77-73-79). Janik Hawlitzky tied for 16th place at 231 (84-69-78). His second round was the lowest by a Blue Raider during the event and tied for the lowest round of the 69 competitors.
Callum Burns just cracked the top-20 in a tie for 20th with a 233 (76-75-82) as Alfie Yearsley rounds out scoring Blue Raiders in 65th with a 258 (82-87-89).
Shane Henderson and Evan Kidd competed as individuals finishing in a tie for 40th and a tie for 58th, respectively. Henderson posted a 242 (79-83-80) as Kidd managed a 255 (81-89-85).
Lindsey Wilson finished in third place of the MSC regular season with the result.
The Blue Raider now turn their attention to the post-season as they next compete at the MSC Championship on April 25-26 in Bowling Green, Kentucky at Bowling Green Country Club.
