MOBILE, Ala. – It was a tough day for the No. 7-seeded Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team as their hopes of an NAIA National Championship were halted after a 4-3 loss to No. 10-seeded Middle Georgia State in the NAIA National Championships second round at the Mobile Tennis Center.

The Knights (12-6) snagged the doubles point winning at the No. 2 and No. 3 seeded matches.

Naufal Kamaruzzaman and Angelo Tost won first in the second-seeded match with a 6-4 win over Jan Silhavy and Aleksa Ciric. Jordi Bou Sastre and Gianfranco Germinara claimed the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Tiago Almeida and Joppe van Malderen in the third-seeded match.

Down 1-0, the Blue Raiders needed to fight back in the singles competition.

Ciric -- ranked 34th in the NAIA in singles -- defeated Sastre 7-5, 6-2 in the top-seeded singles match to get the Blue Raiders back on track at 1-1. Silhavy – who also is ranked 24th in the NAIA in singles – gave the Blue Raiders a 2-1 lead after defeating Oscar Mola 6-2, 6-1.

Kamaruzzaman tied things back up at 2-2 after defeating Nicolas Torrealba 7-5, 7-5 in the fourth-seeded singles match.

The Blue Raiders got back in front at 3-2 after Anatoliy Voloshyn defeated Angelo Tost 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

The Knights refused to go away as they once again tied the game at 3-3 as Adria Pratdepadua defeated van Malderen 7-5, 2-6, 6-2.

With the match tied, the final singles match between Germinara and Almeida decided the post-season fate of the two sides. Almeida got off to a tough start falling 4-6 in set one before coming back to force a third set with a 7-5 win in set two. It wasn't meant to be however as Germinara outlasted the sophomore from Portugal with a 7-5 win losing the match 3-4 to the Knights.

The Blue Raiders finish the season as Mid-South Conference regular-season and tournament champions and a 20-4 overall record.
