Men's Golf Rewrites Record Book in Season-Opening Win

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team rewrote the LWC record books as they rolled to a 59-stroke victory at the Blue Raider Invite to open their season. Sebastian Sandin took home the individual title, scoring a 16-under-par (194: 64-60-70) total for his three rounds which is a program best.

Lindsey Wilson was the only team to finish the event under-par, doing so at a program-best 52-under over the three rounds. The team's 20-under second-round mark also set a new low for a team score during a single round. The mark bested last season's 17-under mark at the same event.

The Blue Raiders dominated the leaderboard, taking home six of the seven top places.

Sandin carded a second round of 60 (10-under-par) which is the lowest ever 18-hole round which helped propel him to a one-stroke victory.

Lindsey Wilson freshman Ivan Ninkovic finished one stroke off the lead in second place during his first collegiate event. He carded a 195 (67-65-63), playing under-par during all three of his rounds to finish at 15-under. The total is the second lowest three-round total in program history.

Janik Hawlitzky rounded out the podium, finishing in third place at 11-under with a 199 (67-67-65). Frederik Strand finished in fourth with an 8-under 202 (66-68-68) and Alfie Yearsley took fifth place at 7-under with a 203 (67-68-68).

Lindsey Wilson swept the top five at the tournament as Sandin, Ninkovic, Hawlitzky, Strand and Yearsley all played all their round at even-par or better.

Shane Henderson completed the best finish by an individual for LWC, finishing in seventh place with a 208 (65-67-76).

Briley Sharpe 215 (73-71-71), AJ Shagool 217 (72-69-76), Linus Doverfors 221 (74-70-77), Evan Kidd 223 (75-72-76), and Jarrett Napier 248 (87-77-84), Adam Rogers 254 (83-88-83), and Chase Carpenter 268 (94-87-87) all competed as individuals at the event.

The event was played at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson a par-70, 6,368-yard design.

Bethel (Tenn.) took home second place at the event with a 847 (279-288-280).

Lindsey Wilson returns to the course on Sept. 12-13 when they compete at The Players Club hosted by Taylor University in Noblesville, Indiana.
