Lions Run Away Late to Defeat Men's Basketball

Box Score

HENDERSON, Tenn. – At Brewer Sports Center, the Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team faced off against its second top-ten-ranked opponent in as many games, and for the second outing in a row, the Blue Raiders lost pace with their opponent late, falling 81-64 to Freed-Hardeman.

The Lions utilized a 13-2 swing out of halftime to create some breathing room, and the locals could not recover. The home side also took advantage of their time at the free throw line over the course of the night, converting on 17-of-25, compared to Lindsey Wilson's season-low showing of only 6-of-8.

Without the help of the charity stripe, the Blue Raiders were tasked with finding their offense from elsewhere. In fact, Lindsey Wilson attempted a season-high 27 three-pointers, but only knocked down eight, including four by Jamie Strong, who finished the contest with a team-best 14 points for the second consecutive game.

Connor Robinson was the only other scorer for the visitors to eclipse double-figures, closing with 10 points for his sixth-straight double-digit effort.

On the glass, Freed-Hardeman bested Lindsey Wilson 31-24, but the Blue Raider did outnumber the Lions in both total blocks and assists. Elijah Jordan led the way on the boards with five, while Jamyus Jones dished out three dimes and collected one block.

After the Lions recorded the opening basket after just 13 seconds, the visitors snatched momentum with an 11-2 run to build their largest lead of the evening. The hosts subsequently battled back into contention to knot the game at 14-14, then proceeded to trade points with their opposition through the remainder of the first half, eventually sneaking ahead, 32-30, heading into the break.

Lindsey Wilson holds steady in Tennessee to visit Bethel University on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. CST.
