Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Fabio De Paula's goal in the 86th minute gave the No. 5 Lindsey Wilson men's soccer a 2-1 victory in the Battle of Highway 55 Wednesday at Finley Stadium.
With the game tied at 1-1, Sebastian Tregarthen played a ball to Alvaro Verwey who found De Paula. De Paula then with his back to his defender was able to fire a shot past the Campbellsville keeper.
Campbellsville tied the game in the 49th minute. Marc Boye received a free kick and then headed it to Diego Chainho who headed it past Pablo Costa.
The Blue Raiders (9-2-1, 3-0 MSC) outshot Campbellsville (9-4-1, 1-2 MSC) 17-11 and held a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal. Sebastian Tregarthen led the way with four shots while Michael Rempel and Michael Acquah each had three. Tregarthen and Acquah each had three shots on goal. Costa faced three shots on goal while making two saves.
Lindsey Wilson struck first in the 22nd minute. Larmond fired a shot off a free kick that hit off the crossbar and Acquah fired the rebound past the Tiger goalkeeper. Lindsey Wilson outshot Campbellsville 8-5 in the first half while both teams recorded two shots on goal.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 18 when they host Cumberland (Tenn.) at Walter S. Reuling Stadium/Ray Wells Field at 7 p.m. CT.
