Carbon's Triple-Double Propels Men's Basketball to 110-88 Victory Over Carolina University in Season Opener

COLUMBIA, Ky – In his first career game, Kenyata Carbon recorded a triple-double to give the Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team 110-88 victory over Carolina University Friday on the first day of the Brady Button Memorial Classic at Biggers Sports Center.

 

The freshman scored 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting and converted on six of his nine attempts at the charity stripe. Carbon added 17 rebounds and dished out 12 assists as he recorded the first triple-double for Lindsey Wilson since 2018. Matt Khoury scored 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc. Connor Robinson also had 21 points on 6-of-10 shooting.                               

Lindsey Wilson shot 50.9 percent from the field and connected on 8-of-16 from three. The Blue Raiders held a 62-40 edge in rebounds. Lindsey Wilson attempted 58 free throws which is the most since 1991 while making 41 which is the most since 2013.

The Bruins scored five of the game's first seven points before Lindsey Wilson went on a 13-1 run to lead 15-6 with 14:34 to left in the first half. Carolina responded by scoring nine of the next 11 points trimming the Blue Raider lead to 17-15. Leading 26-21, the Blue Raiders pushed their lead to double digits with a 9-3 run. After taking a 40-26 lead late in the first half, the Bruins went on an 11-0 run to make it 40-37 with 4:11 to play in the half. Lindsey Wilson then answered with an 11-2 run. The Blue Raiders took a 55-46 lead into halftime.

The Blue Raiders outscored the Bruins 55-42 in the second half shooting 47.1 percent from the field. Lindsey Wilson shot 50 percent from beyond the arc in the final 20 minutes and went 17-of-23 from the free throw line.

Caden Fitzgibbons and Cameron Parker led Carolina with 18 points apiece while Ethan Bell and Jayden Jackson were in double figures with 13 and 11, respectively.

Lindsey Wilson closes out the Brady Button Memorial Classic on Saturday against Saint Francis (Ind.) at 4 p.m. CT at Biggers Sports Center.
