Women’s Basketball Closes Out Bethel Classic With 83-74 Loss to Bellevue

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team closed out the Bethel Classic with an 83-74 loss to Bellevue (Neb.) Saturday at Crisp Arena.

The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Blue Raiders (9-3). Jordyn Stephens led Lindsey Wilson scoring a career-high 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting while connecting on 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Amelia Hodges and Taylor Guess were also in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Lucy Patterson led the Blue Raiders grabbing a team-high nine rebounds.

The Blue Raiders got off to a slow start as they missed their first eight shots and Bellevue got out to an 11-0 lead. Hodges got Lindsey Wilson on the board with a three that sparked an 8-3 run to make it 14-8. The Bruins ended the first quarter scoring four of the final six points as they led 18-10.

Bellevue opened the second quarter on a 6-0 run to increase its lead to 24-10 with 7:10 to play in the first half. Trailing 29-14, the Blue Raiders went on an 8-0 run that lasted 1:39 to trim their deficit to 29-22 with 4:06 to remaining in the half. The Bruins answered back with a 9-0 run of its own to increase their lead to 38-22. Lindsey Wilson scored four of the final six points of the half as they trailed 40-26.

Stephens scored the first eight points for the Blue Raiders to begin the third quarter as trimmed their deficit to 45-34. The Bruins later increased their lead to 59-41 with a 10-4 run. Lindsey Wilson headed to the fourth quarter down 65-48.

The Blue Raiders opened the fourth quarter on a 10-3 run to trim the Bellevue lead to 68-58 with 7:38 to play. Bellevue then scored 10 of the next 15 points to increase their lead to 78-63 with just over three minutes to play. Lindsey Wilson ended the game on an 11-5 run as they fell 83-74.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT when they host Indiana Southeast at Biggers Sports Center.
