Men's Golf Opens Season With Victory at Phoenix Invitational; Reed Earns Medalist Honors

MT. JULIET, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team opened its 2023-24 season with a victory at the Phoenix Invitational on Tuesday at Pine Creek Golf Course.

The Blue Raiders finished with a 50-under par 814 (273-271-270) to take home the team title. Lindsey Wilson's 50 under is the second-best three round score in program history.Lindsey Wilson finished the tournament shooting 23-under on par 4s and carded the most birdies of the tournament with 84.

Milan Reed earned medalist honors with a 19-under par 197 (65-65-67) on the Par 72 6,641 yard course. His 19 under was a three-round program record. Reed edged out Tennessee Southern Jacob Wilson by one shot to take home the individual title. He finished 13-under on par 4s and tied for the most birdies in the tournament with 21.

Linus Doverfors and Rafe Blankenship also earned All-Tournament honors with their top-six finishes. Doverfors finished tied for third with a 201 (70-64-67) while Blankenship was sixth with a 204 (67-71-66). Both Blankenship and Doverfors recorded an eagle and were both 7-under on par 4s.

Charlie Jones who was competing as an individual and Rio Saigal each finished tied for 24th with a 214. Frederik Strand rounds out the Blue Raider scoring with a 218 finishing tied for 35th.

The Blue Raiders are back in action when they host the Blue Raider Fall Classic at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson Sept. 25-26.
