Box Score 2 BELLEVUE, Neb. - The Lindsey Wilson volleyball wrapped up its trip to Nebraska Saturday splitting a pair of matches. The Blue Raiders started the day defeating Grand View (Iowa) in five sets before losing to Benedictine in four.
Two Blue Raiders had double-digit kills against Grand View. Lindamara Conceicao recorded 11 kills while Elizabeth Moore had 10. Luiza Goncalves tallied 20 assists while Monika Szwarc added 16.
Conceicao tallied 11 kills in the second match while Moore had 10. Goncalves and Szwarc each recorded 20 assists.
Lindsey Wilson vs. Grand View: 3-2 (22-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-18, 15-10)
The Blue Raiders got out to a 6-3 lead in the first set following a 6-1 run. Grand View then answered with a 5-1 run to lead 8-7. Lindsey Wilson scored the next three points before the Vikings went on a 4-1 run to lead 12-11. The two teams exchanged points as the set was tied at 20. Grand View closed out the opening set going on a 5-2 run.
Lindsey Wilson scored the first three points of the second set before Grand View scored seven of the next 10 to lead 7-6. Trailing 11-10, the Blue Raiders scored the next six points to jump back in front 16-11. After Grand View cut the Lindsey Wilson lead to 17-14, LWC responded scoring the next five points. The Vikings fought back going on a 6-2 run before Goncalves secured the set for the Blue Raiders with a kill.
The Blue Raiders fell behind 8-4 in the third set after a 6-1 run by the Vikings. Lindsey Wilson trimmed the deficit to one before Grand View went back in front by four at 11-7. The Blue Raiders then scored four of the next five points to trail 12-11. Lindsey Wilson had trailed 15-13 before a 6-2 run by Grand View. The Vikings took the set 25-20 to go up 2-1 in the match.
Tied at six in the fourth set, LWC scored four of the next five points to take a 10-7 lead. The Vikings then went on a 4-1 run to tie the set at 11. Lindsey Wilson put together a 5-1 scoring run to lead 16-12. Following a kill by the Vikings, the Blue Raiders went on a 5-1 run to lead 21-14. Grand View would fight back scoring four of the next five points. LWC forced the fifth set scoring the final three points of the fourth.
Lindsey Wilson got out to a strong start in the fifth set scoring four of the first five points. The Vikings responded scoring five of the next six to lead 6-5. LWC answered right back putting together a 7-0 run to take control 12-6. Grand View scored the next three points then Lindsey Wilson secured the victory scoring three of the final four points.
Lindsey Wilson vs. Benedictine: (25-17, 21-25, 24-26, 18-25)
Lindsey Wilson hit a match-high .367 in the first set. The Blue Raiders got off to a 4-1 lead in the first set. Benedictine tied the set at six following a 5-2 run. Lindsey Wilson answered back scoring seven of the next eight points to take a 13-7 lead. The Ravens then went on a 5-1 run to cut the LWC to 14-12 before the Blue Raiders scored six of the next eight to lead 20-14. The Blue Raider lead would be no less than five the rest of the way as they won the set 25-17.
Benedictine took control in the second set getting out to a 15-9 lead. Lindsey Wilson stormed back going on a 10-2 run to take a 19-17 lead. The Ravens closed out the set on an 8-2 run as they evened up the match.
The third set was back-and-forth as no team was able to create any separation and lead by more than two for the first 20 points. Tied at 10, LWC scored four of the next five points to lead 14-11. The Ravens scored the next four points then the Blue Raiders scored five of the next six to lead 19-16. Lindsey Wilson led 22-19 before Benedictine scored four of the next five to tie the set. The Ravens closed the set scoring three of the final four points to go up 2-1.
Benedictine controlled the fourth set hitting .366. The Blue Raiders cut their deficit to 10-8 before the Ravens went on a 9-4 run to lead 19-11. The two teams exchanged points the rest of the way as LWC dropped the final set 25-18.
