Box Score LAURINBURG, N.C. – Seven different Blue Raiders scored a touchdown and the Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) defense held host St. Andrews (N.C.) to 145 total yards of offense en route to a 51-14 win today at Knight Football Field.
Reid Brickey, Logan Collier, Jbias Dawson, C.J. Fluker, David Gardner Jr., Caleb Marsh, and Logan Neufeld all scored as the Blue Raiders won their 11th straight season opener. Ninth-ranked Lindsey Wilson built a 23-6 first-quarter lead and coasted to the 37-point win.
While the offense scored on five of its first six offensive drives, the Blue Raider defense held the Knights in check. St. Andrews converted just 3-of-14 third downs in the game while rushing for 36 yards.
The Knights' only score in the first half came after a St. Andrews' punt hit a Blue Raider setting up a short field.
Ethan Cash orchestrated an efficient Blue Raider offense in the opening half. He finished his one-half of play completing 13 of his 20 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown.
The Blue Raiders jumped out to a 16-0 lead following rushing touchdowns by Brickey and Dawson. Brickey and Therone Orr each capitalized on two-point conversions to push Lindsey Wilson to the early lead. Dawson led the Blue Raider ground attack with 74 of the team's 164 rushing yards.
Following a St. Andrews score to cut the deficit to 16-6, Collier took the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for his second career kickoff return for a touchdown to give the Blue Raiders a 23-6 advantage. The return is the 15th touchdown off a kickoff in the program's history.
Cash and Neufeld opened the second-quarter scoring with a 24-yard touchdown connection to extend the lead to 30-6. Fluker added a two-yard touchdown run in the final minute of the half to give Lindsey Wilson a 37-6 lead at the break.
Gardner and Fluker each added four-yard touchdown runs in the second half to help the Blue Raiders eclipse the 50-point mark for the 37th time in the program's 152-game history.
Lindsey Wilson finished the game with 409 yards of total offense.
Adriene Bailey led the Blue Raider defense with six tackles while Roman McDonald added three tackles, including 2-1/2 tackles for a loss and 1-1/2 sacks. As a team, Lindsey Wilson finished with 10 tackles for a loss in the win.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at noon CT on Saturday, Sept. 9 as the Blue Raiders host No. 2-ranked Keiser (Fla.) in their 2023 home opener at Parnell Family Stadium.
