GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team fell in its Mid-South Conference opener 91-66 to No. 9 Georgetown at the Davis-Reid Alumni Gym Thursday.
Lindsey Wilson (12-5, 0-1 MSC) shot a season-low 32.8 percent from the field.
Taylor Guess led the Blue Raiders with a team-high 11 points while
Sydnie Hall was also in double figures with 10.
The Blue Raiders were 2-of-12 in the first quarter and connected on 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. Lindsey Wilson took an early 4-2 lead before Georgetown went on a 7-0 run to lead 9-4 with 5:51 to play in the quarter. The Blue Raiders responded scoring the next four points to trim their deficit to 9-8. The Tigers closed out the quarter on a 12-3 run to lead 21-11

Lindsey Wilson improved its shooting in the second quarter going 9-of-17 from the field. The Blue Raiders continued their good half at the free-throw line connecting on all eight attempts in the quarter. Georgetown pushed its lead to 36-21 with 5:21 to play in the half. Lindsey Wilson responded going on a 12-2 run to trim the Tigers lead to 38-33 with 3:11 left. The Tigers then scored the next four points before the Blue Raiders ended the half on a 6-2 run to trail 44-39.
The Blue Raiders had cut the Georgetown lead to 49-45 in the third quarter before the Tigers went on a 10-0 run to extend their lead to 59-45 with 2:44 to play in the third. Following a
Taylor Guess basket, Georgetown closed out the quarter on an 8-3 run to lead 67-50.
Georgetown outscored Lindsey Wilson 24-16 in the final quarter as the Tigers secured the 91-66 victory.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Jan. 18 when they host No. 24 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) at 5:30 p.m. CT at Biggers Sports Center.
