Women’s Basketball Upsets No. 22 Freed-Hardeman 67-57

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team upset No. 22 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) 67-57 in a Mid-South Conference matchup Thursday at Biggers Sports Center.

With the victory, the Blue Raiders (13-5, 1-1 MSC) earn their first win over a ranked opponent since February 24. 2022 when they defeated No. 3 Thomas More. Lucy Patterson scored a team-high 13 points for Lindsey Wilson while recording eight rebounds. Claire Fleming and Amelia Hodges each scored nine.

Freed-Hardeman scored the first seven points before the Blue Raiders went on a 6-0 run. Following a Lions three-pointer, Lindsey Wilson scored the next nine points to lead 15-10 with 1:45 to play in the quarter. Freed-Hardeman scored the last basket of the quarter on a three to trim the Lindsey lead to 15-13.

The Blue Raiders pushed their lead to double digits scoring the first eight points of the second quarter to lead 23-13. Freed-Hardeman responded scoring the next nine points to trim the deficit to 23-22 with 5:30 to play in the half. Lindsey Wilson led 27-23 before the Lions scored the next seven points to take a 30-27 advantage. The Blue Raiders closed out the half scoring seven of the final 10 points to lead 34-33.

Lindsey Wilson took control of the game in the third quarter outscoring the Lions 23-9 and outshooting them 63.6 percent (7-of-11) to 15.4 percent (2-of-13). Freed-Hardeman scored the first two points of the quarter before the Blue Raiders went on a 10-2 run taking a 44-37 lead. The Blue Raiders would push their lead to as many as 18 in the quarter and lead 57-42 going into the fourth.

The Blue Raiders began the fourth quarter on a 9-2 run to increase their lead to 66-44. Freed-Hardeman ended the game on a 13-1 as the Blue Raiders were able to secure the double-digit victory.
