CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team faced a hard-fought defeat against Campbellsville in the latest edition of the Battle of Highway 55 on Thursday evening, concluding the game with a score of 68-59.
The Tigers took an early lead, securing a six-point advantage fueled by Jay Milburn's sharpshooting with two successful three-pointers. Struggling to control turnovers, the Blue Raiders found themselves trailing as Campbellsville capitalized on LWC's mistakes, accumulating eight points in the process.
After the first half, the Blue Raiders trailed 36-28. Point leaders for the Tigers were Jace Wallace with 16, and Jay Milburn with eight. Milburn also led in rebounds with six, and Cobe Penny led steals with three. Campbellsville shot 31.3% from the field, 37.5% for three-point shots, and were 10-11 in free throw attempts. For Lindsey Wilson, Johrdon Mumford led the team with 7 points, and Isaac Weaver tallied six. Lucas Ribeiro and Mumford led in rebounds with four. Rodney Lewis and Chukwudalu Egbejiogu led with two assists each. The Blue Raiders shot 32.1% from the field during the first half, 23.5% for three-point shots, and 60% on free throw attempts.
The second half witnessed a determined comeback from Lindsey Wilson, outscoring the Tigers 20-15 halfway through the period. Despite Campbellsville struggling to replicate their first-half dominance.
Campbellsville's defense played a pivotal role, forcing turnovers and stretching their lead to nine points. However, the Blue Raiders rallied late in the game, scoring nine unanswered points and leveling the score at 57-57. Lindsey Wilson exhibited tenacity in the face of adversity, battling back to make it a closely contested affair.
