COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 24-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team travels to Williamsburg, Kentucky for a Mid-South Conference matchup against Cumberlands (Ky.) Saturday at James H. Taylor, II Stadium at 1:30 p.m. CT.
The Blue Raiders (3-1, 1-0 MSC) opened MSC play with a 47-21 victory at Faulkner last week. Lindsey Wilson tallied 314 yards on the ground and was the first time the Blue Raiders surpassed 300 rushing yards in a game since 2021. Defensively, the Blue Raiders recorded six sacks and forced four turnovers. Lindsey Wilson held Faulkner to just 22 rushing yards.
Lindsey Wilson enters play Saturday averaging 37 points per game and 351.5 yards per game. The Blue Raiders rank ninth in the NAIA averaging 228.8 rushing yards per game. On defense, Lindsey Wilson leads the NAIA allowing just 23.8 yards per game on the ground and rank tied for ninth in sacks with 18.
Cumberlands is 3-2 on the season and 0-1 in conference play after falling to then-No. 5 Bethel (Tenn.) 28-17 on the road last week. The Patriots led 10-7 at half and were outscored 21-7 in the second half. In the loss, the Patriots recorded 229 yards of offense with 188 passing yards. On the season, Cumberlands is averaging 31.8 points per game and ranks in the top 20 of the NAIA allowing 18.4 points a game.
Saturday is the 11th all-time meeting between the two programs. Lindsey Wilson holds an 8-2 edge in the series having won the last eight matchups. Cumberlands last win against the Blue Raiders came in 2013. Lindsey Wilson is 4-2 against Cumberlands in Williamsburg.
