COLUMBIA, Ky. – This weekend, the Lindsey Wilson volleyball team travels to Fort Wayne, Indiana for a three-match, two-day Conference Crossover, hosted by Indiana Tech at the Turnstone Plassman Athletic Center.
The Blue Raiders will face off against three non-conference opponents from three different conferences, beginning at 6 p.m. CST on Friday with 14
th-ranked Grace (Ind.).
The Lancers, of the Crossroads League, enter the weekend on an eight-match winning streak, including a three-set win over No. 22 Marian (Ind.) on Wednesday. Senior Alisha Voss is a dominate presence at the net for Grace, hitting .325 with a team-high 163 kills and 66 total blocks. The middle blocker earned NCCAA Second-Team All-American honors a season ago while helping the Lancers to an NCCAA national championship.
Lindsey Wilson and Grace last met in 2015 in Columbia where the Blue Raiders won their second match all-time in the series. The Lancers, meanwhile, enjoyed their lone win against Lindsey Wilson in 2012.
On Saturday, the Blue Raiders open at 11 a.m. CST with Cornerstone (Mich.) out of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. The Golden Eagles collected a three-set win over Cumberland (Tenn.) back on September 7 and are led by the attacking duo of freshman Aubrey Johnson and junior Emmalee Murphy. The pair have 165 and 164 kills, respectively.
Then, at 1 p.m. CST, Lindsey Wilson meets former Mid-South Conference rival Rio Grande (Ohio), now out of the River States Conference. The Red Storm and the Blue Raiders have not played head-to-head since 2013.
Rio Grande is paced on offense by senior outside hitter Amanda Rarick who is hitting .227 on the year with 250 kills. In only three matches this season has Rarick been held to less than 10 kills.
In non-conference contests this season, Lindsey Wilson is 10-4 and outhitting their opponents .235 to .130.
Ola Wyrzykowska's 138 kills, 123 digs, and 32 service aces are each team-highs in non-conference play.
