COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Brady Button Memorial Classic is scheduled to take place this weekend inside Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raider men's basketball team will host Virginia-Lynchburg and Kentucky Christian for a back-to-back fight. This past weekend Lindsey Wilson came out athletic and hungry as they beat out both opponents by double digits.
Julian Cunningham led both games in points as he looks to add another 20-point game under his belt.
Kenyata Carbon chipped in 13.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game. As a team, Lindsey Wilson shot lights out from the 3-point arc, hitting over 40 percent in both contests while finishing the weekend plus-50 percent from the floor.
Virginia-Lynchburg graduated a bulk of its scoring from a season ago, returning only one name from the 2023-24 roster, Michael Carrigan, who played 19 games and shot 5-of-18 on field goals.
Kentucky Christian brings back freshmen standouts Rheye DeBoard and LeMar Northington for their sophomore campaigns. The duo each posted double-digit scoring averages and shot over 40 percent from the field last year.
Named for a former Lindsey Wilson student-athlete and staff member who passed away in 2021, the Brady Button Memorial Classic honors Button's academic, athletic, and post graduation contributions and dedication to Lindsey Wilson College. Upon his passing, Brady's family established the Brady C. Button Endowed Scholarship and proceeds from this weekend's classic will be donated to the scholarship fund.
Friday's doubleheader tips off at 5 p.m. CST when Campbellsville (Ky.) and Kentucky Christian go head-to-head, followed by the Blue Raiders and Virginia-Lynchburg at 7 p.m. CST. Then, on Saturday, the Tigers and Dragons open play at 2 p.m. CST, followed by Lindsey Wilson and Kentucky Christian at 4 p.m. CST.
