Final Weekend of Regular Season Awaits Volleyball in Tennessee

COLUMBIA, Ky. – It seems like only yesterday that the Blue Raider volleyball team was packing up for its season-opener in Nebraska. 70 days later, (RV) Lindsey Wilson will take one last road trip to Tennessee for its regular season finale against Bethel (Tenn.) and Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.).

Lindsey Wilson has already secured the Mid-South regular season championship but would not mind collecting two more wins before the conference tournament begins next week. The Wildcats and the Lions came through Columbia back on September 27 and 28, respectively, and each left with three-set defeats.

Bethel currently sits at the fifth seed in the Mid-South standings, putting the Wildcats on the Blue Raiders' side of the bracket. Dominika Skoneczna's 249 kills on the year are 10th-most in the conference and her .206 hitting percentage is ninth-best among attackers with at least 200 kills. The junior was held to just four kills on a -.111 hitting mark when Bethel visited Biggers Sports Center a month ago, leaving the offensive productivity to Clara Presmanes and her seven kills from the middle.

Freed-Hardeman allowed Lindsey Wilson to hit a season-high .351 in their earlier meeting. The Lions, on the other hand, were stifled by the Blue Raiders' 10 blocks and hit .061. Alanys Ruíz Rivera paces the offense for Freed-Hardeman, having produced 99 kills in conference play, which is 33 more than the next closest Lions attacker. Cate Schroer, however, led the way against the Blue Raiders back in September, tallying seven kills.

Lindsey Wilson outhit Bethel and Freed-Hardeman, combined, .321 to .054. Lara Danesi totaled only three attack errors as she racked up a team-high 23 kills that weekend. The Blue Raiders also outblocked the two Tennessee schools 14-6 and outserved them 11-2.

Brenda Arango and Savanah Pippin have each rejected a team-high 29 attacks over the Blue Raiders' last nine matches, while Luiza Gonçalves and Elisa Burzio have both delivered 15 aces during the same span.

Lindsey Wilson last went undefeated in the Mid-South in 2018, a year when neither Bethel nor Freed-Hardeman existed in the conference. Since the pair joined the Mid-South, the Blue Raiders are a combined 18-2 against them.

Live coverage of this weekend's action will be provided by Bethel University and the Lion Digital Network.
