COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Cincinnati-Clermont (Ohio) 84-54 on Monday at Biggers Sports Center.
The Blue Raiders (4-0) were led by
Taylor Guess who scored a career-high 31 points on 12-of-21 shooting while connecting of 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.
Jarie Thomas was the other Blue Raider in double figures with 14 while tying a game-high in rebounds with seven.
In the first quarter, Lindsey Wilson limited the Cougars to just 28.6 percent shooting (4-of-14). Cincinnati-Clermont jumped out to quick 4-2 lead before the Blue Raiders went on a 12-0 run that lasted over three minutes to lead 14-4. Following a Cougar three, Lindsey Wilson ended the first quarter scoring five of the final seven points to lead 19-9.
The Blue Raider run continued into the second quarter as Lindsey Wilson scored the first seven points of the quarter increasing the lead to 26-9. After a 7-3 run by the Cougars, the Blue Raiders closed out the first half scoring 12 of the final 14 points to lead 47-20 at the half.
The third quarter was the best for the Cougars as they shot 57.1 percent from the field and connected on 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Lindsey Wilson and Cincinnati-Clermont traded points in the quarter as the Cougars outscored the Blue Raiders 18-17 to make it 64-38 heading into the fourth.
Cincinnati-Clermont opened the fourth quarter scoring eight of the first 12 points. The Blue Raiders then went on a quick 7-0 run to increase their lead to 75-46 with under five minutes to play. Lindsey Wilson remained in control for the remainder of the game as they got the 84-54 victory.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Thursday when the host Miami-Hamilton at 6 p.m. CT at Biggers Sports Center.
