GAMBIER, Ohio. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team broke a pair of school records on the second day of the Total Performance Invitational Friday at the James A. Steen Aquatic Center as the Blue Raiders sit in eighth.
Dan Spinola broke a seven-year school record in the 100-yard breaststroke. Spinola touched the wall in 55.91 to break the record and finish 14th while earning an NAIA provisional standard.
Clinton Eales finished 29th with a provisional cut time of 57.40 while
Adam Lamhiti finished in 58.23 to earn a provisional standard. Guillem Casesnoves, Tyer Buffel and
Max van Schagen also earned provisional cuts in the 100 breast.
Van Schagen broke his own school record in the 50-yard freestyle finishing with a time of 20.76 in the time trial. In the first event of the night, the Blue Raiders' "B" relay of
Cameron Johnson, Eales,
Malte Ahrens and van Schagen finished 20th in the 200-yard medley relay.
Jose Rivas earned a provisional cut in the 100-yard butterfly in the prelims with a time of 51.20 and finished fifth in the "C" final and 25th overall with a time of 51.23. Ahrens earned a provisional standard in the event with a time of 52.43 in the preliminaries.
Sergio Ybarra finished seventh in the 400-yard individual medley. Ybarra touched the wall in 4:01.52 to earn a provisional cut.
Ethan Butler earned a provisional standard in the prelims with a time of 4:10.31 and finished 20th overall with a time of 4:13.58. Lamhiti also earned a provisional standard in 400 IM with a time of 4:17.25.
Fabio Martin Rojo earned a provisional standard in the prelims of the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.08 and finished ninth in the finals with a time of 1:42.86.
Akram Nejjar, Ahrens and
Azahn Hicks all earned provisional cuts in the 200 free.
In the 100-yard backstroke,
Dario Soria finished 13th with a provisional cut time of 50.86. The Blue Raider "A" relay of Eales, Nejjar, Ybarra and Rojo finished 13th in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Rivas, Butler, Soria and Butler finished right behind in 14th.
The third and final day of the Total Performance Invitational gets underway at 10 a.m. CST on Saturday.
