Blue Raider Men Welcome Old Mid-South Foe for Monday Match-up

12/2/2024 9:30:00 AM

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Blue Raider men's basketball team is off to its first 6-0 start at home since the 2018-19 season and will look to remain undefeated inside Biggers Sports Center when Tennessee Southern comes to town at 6 p.m. CST on Monday, December 2.

The Firehawks, formerly of the Mid-South Conference and now members of the Southern State Athletic Conference, last faced Lindsey Wilson on February 21, 2023, in the opening round of the Mid-South tournament. A second-half, come-from-behind victory by the Blue Raiders in that game snapped a five-game losing skid to Tennessee Southern.

Senior Mark Vance paces the Firehawks' offense, averaging 16.0 points per game. He scored a career-high 30 points back on November 2 in a loss to Cumberlands (Ky.) and has been held to single-digits only once this season. With most of his damage coming from inside the arc, Vance also leads the team in free throw attempts and makes, and offensive rebounds.

Lindsey Wilson has largely benefited from its conference-leading field goal and 3-point field goal percentage. Daivel Jackson's .833 mark from the floor actively sits atop the league. In fact, the Blue Raiders are 8-0 when Jackson misses two shots or fewer in a game. From 3-point range, Conner Robinson, Johrdon Mumford, and Barrett Burchyett sit first, third, and fifth, respectively, in the Mid-South for their 3-point field goal percentage, while Julian Cunningham joins the trio shooting over 45 percent from beyond the arc.

At home this season, the Blue Raiders are outscoring opponents by 24.7 points per game and outshooting visitors by 14 percent. Cunningham and Kenyata Carbon are each posting 15 points, three rebounds, four assists and one steal on average in six home games apiece.

Live coverage of Monday evening's game begins at 5:45 p.m. CST on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network.
