COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team is set to face a familiar foe in the NAIA National Championship Round of 16, taking on Cumberlands (Ky.) at 7 p.m. CT on Monday, Dec. 2, at the Scheels Stryker Sports Complex.

The matchup is one of only three in this round featuring two seeded opponents, with the Blue Raiders ranked No. 12 and the Patriots sitting at No. 5. The other seeded clashes include No. 3 William Penn (Iowa) vs. No. 14 Bethel (Ind.) and No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan vs. No. 10 William Carey (Miss.).

The Blue Raiders (10-5-3) advanced to the Round of 16 after a dominant 4-0 victory over Xavier (La.) in the second round. Jaland Larmond starred with two goals, while Dominic Ayella and Sebastian Tregarthen added one each in a comprehensive team performance at Parnell Family Stadium.

Cumberlands (14-2-2) reached Wichita with a dramatic 2-1 overtime win over Rio Grande (Ohio). Less than a minute into extra time, Rodrigo Riveros scored the game-winning goal on an assist from Shuma Sasaki, propelling the Patriots to their second ever appearance at the national tournament's final site. Their last time at the Final Site was in 2020.

This will mark the third meeting between the two teams this season, with the Blue Raiders looking to avenge their loss to the Patriots in the Mid-South Conference Tournament Final. Cumberlands edged Lindsey Wilson on penalty kicks (4-2) following a 1-1 draw through regulation and overtime. Earlier in the regular season, the Blue Raiders dominated the Patriots in a 6-1 victory.

Lindsey Wilson enters the contest with a storied tournament history, boasting the most NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship appearances in the field with 31. The program aims to add to its illustrious legacy by advancing past the Patriots and securing a spot in the quarterfinals.
