TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team opened its three-game series with Talladega Thursday dropping a doubleheader.
The Blue Raiders (4-6) dropped game one 15-8 and fell in game two 5-1.
Jaeden Cockerel recorded two hits and drove in a run while
Sam Gage recorded three RBIs.
Chance Stayton drove in a pair of runs while
Nazhir Bergen also recorded an RBI in the game.
Cohen Achen started pitching three innings allowing 10 hits and five earned runs while striking out four.
In game two,
Jonathan Barham hit a home run while three other Blue Raiders recorded a hit.
Jonathan Phipps got the start pitching four innings allowing five runs on five hits while recording two strikeouts.
Game 1: Talladega 15 Lindsey Wilson 8
The Tornadoes struck first in the first inning scoring five runs and added two more in the third to lead 7-0. Talladega increased its lead to 8-0 in the fourth inning and then scored seven runs in the fifth.
Gage got Lindsey Wilson on the board in the top of the sixth with a two-rbi double. A balk then scored another run and then Stayton drove in a run to make it 15-4. In the seventh, Cockerel doubled down the left field line scoring
Koby Wall. A bases-loaded walk and then a hit-by-pitch made it 15-7. The Blue Raiders scored their final run on another bases-loaded walk.
Game 2: Talladega 5 Lindsey Wilson 1
Talladega got on the board first in the home half of the first inning with a three-run home run. Barham got the Blue Raiders on the board in the top of the third with a solo home run. The Tornadoes added two more runs in the fourth.
