CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- No. 10-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis remained unbeaten in the Mid-South Conference following today's 6-1 win over host Campbellsville (Ky.) at the Kelly Hall Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders (9-2, 2-0 in the MSC) won two of the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead and five of six singles matches for their sixth consecutive win.
Anastasiia Ivanchenko and Martina Cortal opened the match with a 6-1 win over Ariadna Perez and Andrea Ovejero on court three. The win marked the first time that Ivanchenko and Cortal played as a doubles team this season.
Lindsey Wilson secured the doubles point on court one as Anastasiia Vorobiova and Darija Mladenovic -- also making their pairing debut -- won 6-1 over Miru Nonaka and Oriana Espinoza. Nonaka and Espinoza entered the day ranked No. 29 in the NAIA doubles rankings.
Five Blue Raiders entered today's match ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in singles. The new ranking came out earlier today.
Mariangeles Mateu -- ranked 18th in the NAIA singles -- Angela Mendoza 6-1, 6-4 in the second-seeded match to push the Blue Raiders in front 2-0. Vorobiova -- who moved up five spots to No. 10 in the NAIA -- beat Perez 7-6 (5), 7-5 on court one for the 3-0 lead.
Mladenovic secured the team win on court four when Espinoza retired in the second set. Mladenovic -- ranked 68th -- won the first set 6-1 and led in the second 4-1 at the time of the retirement.
Ivanchenko and Heyka Rodriguez -- ranked 43rd and 28th, respectively -- also picked up straight-sets wins.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 20, as the Blue Raiders host Georgetown (Ky.) at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
