COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 10 ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team won its eighth-straight match Thursday with a 7-0 victory over No. 13 Union at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
Anastasiia Ivanchenko and
Martina Cortal opened the match with a 6-0 win over Laia Garriga Oms and Beatriz Verdial on court three.
Mariangeles Mateu and
Heyka Rodriguez – No. 37 in NAIA doubles - clinched the doubles point for Lindsey Wilson with a 6-3 victory over Magdalena Skachova and Anna Nevada Loendahl Henriksen at No. 2 doubles.
Anastasiia Vorobiova and
Darija Mladenovic picked up a 6-4 victory in the top-seeded doubles match.
Mateu – No. 18 in NAIA singles – gave the Blue Raiders a 2-0 advantage with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Skachova at No. 2 singles. Mladenovic – ranked 68th - defeated Anastasiia Iakovlieva in straight sets 6-3, 6-0. Vorobiova – ranked 10th – clinched the match for the Blue Raiders with a 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-1 victory over Liliana Drukerova on court one.
Ivanchenko – No. 43 – defeated Verdial 7-5, 2-6, 10-4 at No. 4 singles, Rodriguez -No. 28 – defeated Garriga Oms 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 on court five and
Salome Sposetti won 6-7(4-7), 6-3, 12-10 at No. 6 singles.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Monday for a Mid-South Conference matchup against No. 24 Cumberlands (Ky.) at 2 p.m. CT at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
