COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 15 Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team defeated No. 14 Union 6-1 on Thursday at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders improve to 8-3 and have won their last three matches.
Jan Silhavy and
Miquel Perez – No. 12 in NAIA doubles – got the match started with a 6-1 victory over Niccolo Chiriatti and Henning Ebersohn on court one.
Anatoliy Voloshyn and
Logan Engela clinched the doubles point with 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles over Luke Geduldt and Victor Bourguignon – No. 41-. Union won No. 2 doubles 7-6 (10-8).
Perez defeated Geduldt – ranked No. 43 in the NAIA – 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 3 singles. Silhavy – ranked No. 13 – defeated Diego Garcia Gil 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 on court one to give Lindsey Wilson a 3-0 lead.
Jaume Barcelo – No. 44 - clinched the match for the Blue Raiders with a straight-set victory over Chiriatti at No. 2 singles 6-3, 7-5.
Voloshyn – No. 53 – won in straight sets over Bourguignon 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and
Lucas Marques won 6-1, 4-6, 10-6 at No. 4 singles. Union's lone point of the match came on court six with a 7-5, 6-3 victory.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Monday when they face No. 22 Cumberlands in a Mid-South Conference matchup at 2 p.m. CT at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
