LEBANON, Tenn. - The Lindsey Wilson softball team started their four game series against Cumberland (Tenn.) on Friday.
Game 1 | Lindsey Wilson 1, Cumberland 0
The Blue Raiders took game one against the Phoenix with a final score of 1-0. The lone run of the game was scored by Elizabeth Funk off a double to right center by Kelsie Bostock. Tanlee Hudgins and Bostock both recorded doubles in one of their at bat appearances and Funk hit a triple in the top of the fourth inning. In the circle, Kayden Murray pitched a complete game, allowing only four hits during the game and recording 10 or more strikeouts for the fifth time this season.
Game 2 | Lindsey Wilson 1, Cumberland 9
A home run that brought in three runs in the first inning for Cumberland was an early setback for Lindsey Wilson to start game two. The Blue Raiders battled for a run until the sixth inning, when an error by the Phoenix defense allowed Natalie Wandrie to bring in the only run of the game. The run was scored off a hit up the middle by Madyson Jones, and the throwing error by center field allowed Wandrie to run home, Bostock to reach third and Jones to reach second. Abigail Cruz pitched one inning and allowed three hits and three runs and Savannah Robbins pitched for 4.2 innings, allowing nine hits and six runs.
The Blue Raiders will complete the series on Saturday, March 30 at Billy Dee Ross Stadium with the first game beginning at 12 p.m. CST.
