PIKEVILLE, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team dropped at road contest at Pikeville (Ky.) 7-5 at Johnnie Lemaster Field on Tuesday.
Matthew Schultz led the Blue Raiders (11-9) going 4-for-5 driving in a run.
Gabe Board recorded three hits in four at-bats with a triple and an RBI.
Andres Duran and
Jonathan Barham each recorded a pair of hits. Barham and Nazir Bergen each drove in a run for Lindsey Wilson. Micthell Buchanan went the distance giving up five earned runs on seven hits while walking six and striking out two.
Lindsey Wilson got on the board in the first inning scoring three runs. Schultz led off the game with a single and
Sam Gage drew a walk. Schultz gave the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead scoring on a Pikeville (12-4) error. Barham drove in Gage with an RBI-single into left field to make it 2-0. The Blue Raiders lead increased to 3-0 on a Bergin sacrifice fly.
The Bears got a run in the second scoring on a Lindsey Wilson error. Pikeville led off the third with a single and a walk. Following a sacrifice bunt that put runners on second and third, Riley Paulino made it a 3-2 game driving in a run. The Bears took a 4-3 lead in the fourth scoring a pair of runs and adding one in the fifth to make it 5-3.
Board led off the sixth inning with a triple into right field. Schultz drove in Board on a single into center field to trim the Pikeville lead to 5-4. In the top of the seventh, Duran reached on a leadoff single. Following a flyout, Bergin was hit by a pitch putting runners on first and second. After a strikeout, Board tied the game with an RBI-single into centerfield scoring Duran. Pikeville gained the 7-5 advantage on a two-RBI triple from Cam Revolt in the home half of the seventh.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Wednesday traveling to New Albany, Indiana to take IU Southeast. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT at the Koetter Sports Baseball Complex.
