FULTON, Mo. -- No. 12-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis beat its fifth ranked team of the season today with a 6-1 win over host and No. 10-ranked William Woods (Mo.) at the Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders ran their winning streak to five straight by winning all six singles matches in the upset.
After dropping the doubles point, Mariangeles Mateu started the singles dominance for the Blue Raiders with a win on court two. She dropped just two games in the 6-0, 6-2 victory over Mireia Simon to pick up her fifth straight win.
Reshma Challarapu pushed the Blue Raiders in front in the team match on court three after Marta Calvo retired from the match. Challarapu was leading 7-5, 3-0 when the match stopped, giving Lindsey Wilson a 2-1 win.
Darija Mladenovic followed with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court four over Kristina Dimitrijevic to give the Blue Raiders a 3-1 advantage.
Anastasiia Vorobiova recorded the decisive win in the top-seeded match, which featured a pair of nationally ranked singles players. Vorobiova -- ranked No. 15 in the NAIA -- beat 17th-ranked Hanna Lindeboom 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 to improve to 5-2 on the season in singles.
With the Blue Raiders up 4-1, Heyka Rodriguez and Anastasiia Ivanchenko produced straight-set wins on courts six and five, respectively, to close out the win.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Thursday, March 14, as the Blue Raiders travel to No. 25-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.) for a Mid-South Conference match in Campbellsville.
