BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) women's tennis put on a dominant display today en route to the Mid-South Conference Tournament title with a 4-0 win over Bethel (Tenn.) at the Warren County Tennis & Sports Facility.
The top-seeded Blue Raiders (18-2) dropped just one set on their way to the program's conference-leading 18th MSC Tournament title.
Lindsey Wilson earns the Mid-South's automatic bid into next month's NAIA National Tournament in Mobile, Alabama.
Lindsey Wilson -- who has won 15 straight -- sprinted out of the gates, dropping just two games in winning the doubles point.
Mariangeles Mateu and Heyka Rodriguez improved to 17-3 on the season as a doubles tandem thanks to a 6-0 win over Cloe Casado and Martina Coghetto on court two.
It didn't take long for the Blue Raiders to secure the doubles point as Anastasiia Ivanchenko and Martina Cortal won on court three for the 1-0 team lead. Ivanchenko and Cortal remain perfect on the season with the 6-2 win on court three over Mitzi Castro and Sofia Canto. The pair are now 9-0 this season in doubles action.
The No. 11-ranked Blue Raiders carried the momentum into the singles action, winning all three completed matches against the No. 25-ranked and second-seeded Wildcats.
Ivanchenko completed her perfect day on court five with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Coghetto to push Lindsey Wilson to a 2-0 advantage. Ivanchenko has won 13th straight to improve to 16-2 on the season, including a perfect 13-0 in the fifth-seeded singles match.
Lindsey Wilson extended its lead to 3-0 following a win on court three. Reshma Challarapu delivered a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Casado to push the Wildcats (14-4) to the brink of elimination.
A trio of Blue Raiders were racing to win the decisive point. Mateu, Darija Mladenovic, and Anastasiia Vorobiova were all within two games of winning their match, and thus, the team match in the waning moments of the championship.
Mladenovic crossed the line first to claim the decisive point in the fourth-seeded match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Sofija Rajic. Mladenovic improves to 17-2 on the season and a team-best 14-match winning streak.
While the final matches were halted after the Blue Raiders captured the fourth point, Vorobiova and Mateu were also within sight of the finish line.
Vorobiova led MSC Women's Tennis Player of the Year Edisa Hot 6-2, 5-2 on court one, while Mateu was up 6-2, 4-3 on court two.
Lindsey Wilson learns its next opponent on April 30, when the NAIA releases the tournament field and bracket via the NAIA website.
