COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 13-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team defeated No. 12 Cumberland (Tenn.) 5-2 Monday on Senior Day at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
Jan Silhavy and
Miquel Perez – No. 20 doubles in ITA – defeated Vitor Ferreira and Julian Parada – ranked No. 30 – 6-4 in the top-seeded doubles match. Cumberland evened up doubles play with a 7-5 victory at No. 3.
Lucas Marques and
Aldo Randazzo clinched the doubles point for the Blue Raiders with a 7-6 (7-4) victory over German Suarez and Daniel Johannes Wessels on court two.
Jaume Barcelo – ranked No. 60 – gave the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 victory in the second-seeded singles match over Ferreira (No. 36). Perez (ranked No. 55) defeated Adrijan Hrzic (No. 69) on court three 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). Silhavy – No. 16 – clinched the match for the Blue Raiders with a 6-3, 6-7 (7-4), 6-3 over Wessels on court one.
Cumberland got its first point of the match at No. 5 singles. Randazzo picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. The Phoenix took No. 4 singles 7-5, 3-6, 10-5.
The Blue Raiders now begin preparations for the Mid-South Conference tournament beginning on April 18 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The tournament bracket is slated to be released later in the week by conference officials.
