Men’s Golf Finishes Seventh at NAIA Championship

DALTON, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team finished seventh at the NAIA Championship Friday at Dalton Country Club.

The Blue Raiders carded their best round of the tournament Friday with a 9-over par 297 on the par-72 7,043 yard course. Lindsey Wilson finished the championship with a 59-over 1,211 (303-309-302-297). The Blue Raiders led the championship in par five scoring at -4.

Callum Waugh earned All-Tournament team honors finishing in the top-15. With his finish, Waugh has qualified for next year's tournament. Waugh also earned NAIA Ping First Team All-American honors the Golf Coaches' Association of America announced. Milan Reed was named to the GCAA All-Freshman team.

Waugh moved up 10 spots in the final round posting a 1-under 71 to finish tied for 10th. He was under-par in two of his four rounds at the championship. Waugh finished with a +7 295 (78-71-75-71). He finished tied for the championship lead in pars with 51.

Toby White matched his championship low with a 74 in the final round. White finished tied for 32nd with a 303 (75-80-74-74). Reed finished tied for 46th with a 307 (74-80-78-75) while Rio Saigal was tied for 53rd with a 310 (76-78-79-77). Rafe Blankenship rounds out the Lindsey Wilson scoring with a 313 (79-80-75-79).

Head coach Chris Butler was named one of the five finalists for the Dave Williams Award presented by Golf Pride Grips announced by the GCAA. The Williams Award honors the national coach of the year in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, NJCAA Division I, and NJCAA Division II men's golf.
