LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team laid down a season-high .347 attack percentage and 14 service aces en route to a three-set sweep over the homestanding Bulldogs of Boyce (Ky.)
Ola Wyrzykowska led the charge on offense with 10 kills and four aces, nearly capping a double-double with a team-high nine digs.
Lara Danesi contributed seven kills and three aces, while
Luiza Goncalves' 21 assists moved her into 10
th place on the program's career assists list.
The hosts opened strong to a 3-1 lead, followed by a five-point Lindsey Wilson counter with a pair of kills from Wyrzykowska to give the visitors their first lead of the set. The Bulldogs stuck around to knot the score at 9-9 and no matter who seized momentum, the two sides proceeded to trade short runs. The Blue Raiders edged in front 22-20 late in the frame but Boyce fought back with a three-point swing. Lindsey Wilson had the last laugh of the opener, stringing together a 5-1 rally and an ace from Danesi to seal the set.
The Blue Raiders dominated from the service line in the middle frame, posting nine aces to help aid separate runs of 8-3, 5-1, and 10-0.
Boyce continued to pressure Lindsey Wilson in the third, pulling within two points early to trim the Blue Raiders' lead to 9-7. From there, however, the guests in the building took control, picking up kills from
Savanah Pippin,
Natalie Wandrie,
Elizabeth Moore, and
Monika Szwarc on their way to 25-21 set win to clinch the match.
Lindsey Wilson returns home at 5 p.m. CST on Friday, September 6 to host Oakland City (Ind.).
