Blue Raiders Begin Road Trip at Bethel

1/23/2025 10:30:00 AM

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Lindsey Wilson basketball team travels to McKenzie, Tennessee to take on Bethel University Wildcats Thursday at 7:30 p.m. CST at Crisp Arena.

The Blue Raiders are 13-5 overall and 1-2 in Mid-South Conference play and are coming off an 84-75 victory over Cumberland (Tenn.). The Blue Raiders sit atop the conference in three-point field goal percentage as they can attack from the paint and beyond the arc. Lindsey Wilson has three double-digit scorers with leading scorer Kenyata Carbon averaging 16.8 points per game Julian Cunningham averaging 16.2 points per game, followed by Julian Cunningham averaging 16.2 points per game, and Daivel Jackson adding another 14.2 points per game who all shoot above 35 percent on from the three on the season.

The Blue Raiders have been dominant defensively this season, ranking third in the conference in opponent field goal percentage, second in opponent three-point percentage, and third in opponent points per game, allowing just 69.7 points on average. Jackson has been a force in the paint, averaging 1.7 blocks per game and anchoring the team's interior defense. Three Blue Raiders average over one steal a game with Carbon leading the way with 1.9, Cunningham following him with 1.7, and Johrdon Mumford with 1.1 a game. From the start of the season, Head Coach Chris Starks has emphasized defense as the Blue Raiders look to continue to hound the ball from here on out.

The Wildcats (12-7, 0-4 MSC) look to have an answer for the Blue Raider defense with a trio of double-digit scorers. Junior guard Trevor Chatman leads the way with 11.2 points per game, behind him is David Starr adding another 10.8, and Ethan Turner with 10.5 points per game. Bethel is on a four-game losing streak but is an impressive 10-2 at home as they look to give the Blue Raiders everything they can handle. With the Wildcats averaging 85.1 points per game, the Blue Raiders will have to focus and keep that defensive mindset to secure victory over Bethel.

The Blue Raiders will be in action at 7:30 CST Thursday, January 23. Live coverage will be provided by Bethel University athletics or you can listen on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network and locally on WAIN 101.9 FM.
