Williamsburg, Ky.- The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team fell to No.17 Cumberlands 92-58 Thursday at O. Wayne Rollins Center.
The Blue Raiders were limited to a season-low 32.4 percentage from the field in the loss. Matt Khoury was the lone Lindsey Wilson player in double figures scoring a team-high 13 points.
Lindsey Wilson struggled to find any offensive and defensive identity in their matchup against the Patriots. A slow start from the starters forced Head Coach Chris Starks to depend on the second unit as they tried to cut Cumberlands lead down as the game went on. Defensively in the first half, the Blue Raiders allowed 32 points in the painted area as Cumberlands couldn't find any offense from the three point arc. With struggles coming about, the Blue Raiders were only down by 11 points at the half 39-28.
As the second half began, Cumberlands came out firing on all cylinders. The Patriots led in almost every statistical aspect of the game making it hard for the Blue Raiders to mount comeback comeback. Anthony Johnson hit a pair of quick threes that forced the Blue Raiders to go zone defense. Cumberlands' strong second half led to the Patriots outscoring Lindsey Wilson 53-30. Cumberlands showed their dominance scoring 60 points in the paint which is a Blue Raiders season high in paint points allowed.
Robertas Jonaits led all scores with 20 points while Johnson added 19.
The Blue Raiders will be back in action against at 3 p.m. CT Saturday at Biggers Sports Center for a Mid-South Conference matchup against Bethel University (Tenn.)
