No. 6 Football Hosts Cumberlands on Saturday

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team welcomes Cumberlands (Ky.) to Parnell Family Stadium Saturday for a Mid-South Conference matchup at 1:30 p.m. CT.
 
At halftime of Saturday's game, the 2020 National Championship team will be honored. The Blue Raider went 11-0 and defeated Northwestern (Iowa) to capture the programs first national championship.
 
The Blue Raiders enter play 5-0 and are 1-0 in the MSC after defeating then-No. 11 Georgetown (Ky.) 37-13 on the road last week. Lindsey Wilson surpassed 450 yards of offense for the third time this season with 455. The Blue Raiders recorded four rushing touchdowns in the win and converted 10 of their 14 attempts on third down. Davontaye Saunders rushed for over 150 yards for a third straight game and scored three touchdowns. Tate Rice threw for a career-high 275 yards and a touchdown, while Khia Sherrard caught nine passes for 156 yards and a touchdown. Cameron Rankins led the Lindsey Wilson defense with eight tackles, while Troy Churchill recorded a sack. Lee Levingston recorded four tackles and had an interception, while Lou Burchfield forced and recovered a fumble.
 
Lindsey Wilson is averaging 41.2 points per game, which ranks 14th in the NAIA, while allowing just 15.4 points per game, ranking 13th. The Blue Raiders rank 16th in the country in total yards per game, with 442.4. Lindsey Wilson ranks third averaging 25.9 punt return yards per game, and fourth with 27.9 kick return yards a game. Lindsey Wilson ranks 18th in sacks with 14.  Sherrard's eight receiving touchdowns lead the MSC and are tied for the fourth-most in the NAIA.
 
Cumberlands (3-2, 0-1 MSC) comes into Saturday's matchup looking to bounce back after falling to Campbellsville 49-34 last week to open conference play. Patriots quarterback Drew Gregg completed 33 of his 62 passes for 425 yards with four touchdowns and a pair of interceptions. Gregg's completions, attempts, and yards set single-game records for the Patriots. Cumberlands averages 36.8 points and allows 25.6 per game this season. The Patriots have the 11th-best rushing offense, averaging 194.6 yards per game.
 
Saturday's game marks the 12th all-time meeting between the two schools. Lindsey Wilson leads the all-time series 8-3, including 4-0 in Columbia. Cumberlands won last season's meeting 18-14 in Williamsburg, snapping an eight-game losing streak to the Blue Raiders.
