COLUMBIA, Ky. – This week's two-match slate for the Lindsey Wilson volleyball team carries significant postseason implications as we near the end of the regular season.
The Blue Raiders (5-2 in the Mid-South) travel to Cumberland (Tenn.) (5-3) on Tuesday, then Campbellsville (Ky.) (4-3) on Thursday. A pair of wins would give Lindsey Wilson some cushion as the number-two seed in the conference standings.
On October 8, the Phoenix visited Columbia and were dealt a 3-1 loss. Since then, Cumberland is 4-1 with its lone loss coming at Bethel (Tenn.) in three sets.
Lila Cade sports the league's second-highest kill total at 374, while her kills per set ratio ranks fifth (3.07). The sophomore is one of only two attackers in the conference with 100 kills versus in-league opponents. In the loss to Lindsey Wilson earlier this month, Cade hit 0.268 with 12 kills, 26 digs, and three service aces.
Thursday's meeting at Campbellsville will be the first of two in a span of 13 days. The Tigers lost to Cumberland (Tenn.), 3-1, back on October 10, but have been hitting near lights out as of recent with five matches of plus-0.300 hitting percentage in their last eight outings.
Brooke Hager, a junior middle blocker, boasts a 0.426 hitting mark, which is second-best in the Mid-South. She was voted the conference's Attacker of the Week on September 29, followed by her teammate Maddie Pennington earning Defensive Player of the Week on October 6 and 13, and Kati Vest receiving Setter of the Week recognition on October 6.
Lindsey Wilson swept Campbellsville during the regular season in 2024, winning both matches in five sets after trailing 2-1. Meanwhile, the Blue Raiders win over Cumberland on October 8 was the program's 50
th in the all-time series between the two.
Live coverage of this week's action will be provided by the host schools.
Tuesday's matches begin with junior varsity at 5 p.m. CT, while Thursday's start at 4 p.m. CT.
