Women's Soccer Dominates Bethel on Senior Night in a 4-0 Victory

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team shut out Mid-South Conference opponent Bethel (Tenn.) 4-0 on Senior Night Tuesday, October 21, at Ray Wells Field in Walter S. Reuling Stadium.

The No. 22 Blue Raiders (7-4-2, 4-0-1 MSC) showcased their offensive pressure throughout the match, recording 16 total shots with eight on target. The Wildcats (3-9-1, 2-3-0 MSC) managed 11 shots of their own, including four on goal.

The first half went in favor of the Blue Raiders as Ashiat Naluggwa opened the scoring in the 15th minute, converting a penalty kick after a Bethel handball in the box. Naluggwa struck the ball past the goalkeeper into the left side of the net. Just two minutes later, she doubled the lead when Mercy Kinuthia delivered an accurate pass that Naluggwa finished into the bottom-right corner for her second goal of the match.

In the second half, the Blue Raiders showed no signs of slowing down as their offensive pressure continued to overwhelm Bethel's defense. Javine McKnight opened the scoring after halftime with her first goal of the season in the 51st minute, capitalizing on a well-placed assist from Amanda Parreiras to push Lindsey Wilson ahead 3-0. The momentum stayed firmly with the Blue Raiders as they quickly struck again just two minutes later. Alexandra Giusti connected on a powerful header off a perfectly executed corner kick from Naluggwa, notching her second goal of the year and extending the lead to 4-0.

The Blue Raiders will travel to Henderson, Tennessee to face Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) in a MSC conference game at 2 p.m. Saturday October 25 at Josh Riley Soccer Complex.
