Men’s Soccer Closes Out Regular Season With 4-1 Victory Over Freed-Hardeman

HENDERSON, Tenn.- The Blue Raiders closed out the regular season with a 4-1 victory over Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) at the Josh Riley Soccer Complex Saturday Night. 

Paseka Maile, Renny Caicedo, Denilson Macon, and Dominic Ayella all tallied a goal for the Blue Raider offense. Michael Rempel recorded the only assist for LWU. 

Lindsey Wilson struck first in the 11th minute on a penalty kick from Maile that hit the top of the net to take an early 1-0 lead. The Blue Raiders held the Lions scoreless to take the 1-0 edge into the half. 

LWU and FHU both tallied eight shots in the first half. Djiba recorded four saves and allowed no goals for the first 45 minutes of action. 

Caicedo opened the scoring in the second half in the 53rd minute, connecting with the top left corner of the net to extend the lead to 2-0. Ten minutes later, in the 63rd minute, Macon found the back of the net, increasing the lead to 3-0. To close out the Blue Raider scoring, Rempel found Ayella in the 79th minute to grow the lead to 4-0. Lindsey Wilson's shutout was put to an end when Freed-Hardeman's Thabo Mahlaha found Samuel Sebagabo in the 82nd minute, cutting the deficit to 4-1. 

Lindsey Wilson took the victory 4-1, although the Lions outshot the Blue Raiders 18-14. Djiba took the victory in the net, recording eight saves, allowing one goal. 

The Blue Raiders will find out their seed and opponent for the Mid-South Conference Tournament later tonight when conference officials announce the bracket.
