COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 7-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team travels to No. 11 Georgetown (Ky.) Saturday to open Mid-South Conference play at Toyota Stadium at 1:30 p.m. CT.
The Blue Raiders improved to 4-0 this season with a 35-27 victory at Reinhardt (Ga.) on September 20. Lindsey Wilson trailed 24-14 at halftime before outscoring the Eagles 21-3 in the second half.
Davontaye Saunders rushed for over 150 yards for a second consecutive game. Saunders had 156 yards on 22 caries and a touchdown in the victory.
Khia Sherrard caught seven passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, the Blue Raiders recorded five sacks, with
Darius Moore leading the way with 2.5.
Lindsey Wilson is averaging 42.3 points per game this season, which ranks 11th in the NAIA. The Blue Raiders are 15th in the NAIA, averaging 439.3 yards per game. Lindsey Wilson leads the NAIA, averaging 30.6 kickoff return yards per game. Defensively, the Blue Raiders ranks 12th, allowing 106.3 rushing yards a game. Sherrard's seven receiving touchdowns rank third in the NAIA.
Georgetown enters play with a 3-1 record. The Tigers suffered their first loss on September 20, at then-No. 14 St. Thomas (Fla.) 26-7. Georgetown tallied 272 yards of offense with 188 coming through the air. The Tigers average 33.5 points and 375.3 yards per game. Georgetown ranks seventh, allowing just 89.3 rushing yards per game, and is 12th in points allowed per game at 14.3.
Saturday's game marks the 16th all-time meeting between the two schools. Lindsey Wilson leads the all-time series 9-6 with both teams having won three times in Georgetown. Georgetown has won the last two matchups, including a 27-10 victory last season in Columbia.
