COLUMBIA, Ky. – The (RV) Lindsey Wilson women's volleyball team hosts a pair of Mid-South Conference opponents this weekend at Biggers Sports Center, starting with Bethel (Tenn.) on Friday evening, then Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) Saturday morning.
The Blue Raiders still sit in second place in the conference standings but only by a half-game ahead of Campbellsville (Ky.), who also plays Bethel and Freed-Hardeman at home this weekend. With that in mind, this two-day slate carries big implications ahead of Tuesday's rematch with the Tigers.
Bethel is 2-7 on the road this season after dropping a three-set decision at Fisk (Tenn.) on Tuesday. The Wildcats are led by Katie Pennington and her team-leading 54 kills on 0.305 hitting over the last five matches.
Mackenzie McCammon and Camila Sandoval have shared setting duties as they have averaged 5.61 and 4.60 assists per set, respectively, over the same span.
Freed-Hardeman boasts one of the nation's best serving stats. The Lions rank second in the NAIA with 294 aces and third for aces per set – 2.85. During their active three-match winning streak, the Lions are hitting 0.212 and putting down 4.45 aces per set.
Audrey Orton's 34 kills and 0.221 attack percentage through the winning streak pace Freed-Hardeman on offense, while Marija Milic's 11 aces are also a team-best.
Lindsey Wilson swept Bethel and beat the Lions in four back on October 3 and 4. The Blue Raiders combined to hit 0.223 in the back-to-back.
Ola Wyrzykowska ranks fifth in the nation with 425 kills. She is the first Lindsey Wilson attacker since Kasia Niderla (580) in 2019 to record 400 kills in a single season.
Friday's matches begin with junior varsity at 4 p.m. CT, followed by varsity at 6 p.m. CT. Saturday will be varsity-only at 11 a.m. CT.
