Blue Raiders Upset No.15 Oregon Tech 77-65

COLUMBIA, Ky.- 24th-ranked Lindsey Wilson upset No.15-ranked Oregon Tech 77-65 on Monday night. 

Meadow Tisdale led the Blue Raider offense with 23 points and eight rebounds on 9-of-10 shooting from the free throw line. Claire Fleming contributed 21 points and four assists, knocking down 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. 

Jarie Thomas opened the scoring on a layup at 9:21 for Lindsey Wilson to even the score at 2-2. Fleming picked up her first bucket of the night at 8:13 on a mid-range jumper, giving Lindsey Wilson its first lead. A free throw from Thomas at 7:28 sparked an 8-4 Blue Raider run that lasted until 4:42, giving LWU a 12-8 advantage. Oregon Tech's Kendall Fealy converted on a layup at 2:17 to give the Owls a 14-12 lead, but was answered back by a Tisdale layup to even the score at 1:58. The Blue Raiders closed the quarter on a 6-3 run to lead 18-17. 

Tatum Schmerbach gave Oregon Tech back the lead on a jumper at 9:26 for a 19-18 edge. Tisdale answered back at 7:46 with an and-one to push the Blue Raiders ahead 21-19, followed by a Thomas layup 23 seconds later for a 23-19 Lindsey Wilson sway. At 6:33, Tisdale found Fleming on the wing for a three, increasing the lead to 26-21. Maddie Eischen knocked down two free throws at 6:10 to make it a one-possession game, but was answered by another Fleming three at 5:25 on an assist by Shelton, followed by an Emma Barnett three on an assist by Fleming, giving Lindsey Wilson the 32-23 lead. Lindsey Wilson closed the half on a 7-6 run for a 39-29 halftime advantage. 

Thomas knocked down a jumper at 8:52 to open the second half scoring, followed by two Fleming free throws to hold a 43-33 lead. At 6:52, Oregon Tech's Olivia Sprague connected from behind the arc on an assist from Brooke Anderson, cutting the Lindsey Wilson advantage to 46-41. With 00:58 on the clock, Thomas found herself at the free throw line after an offensive rebound and put-back attempt where she connected on the tail-end for a 59-50 Blue Raider edge. Schmerbach answered with a layup to cut the lead to 59-52 headed into the fourth quarter. 

13 seconds into the quarter, Tisdale made her way to the charity stripe knocking down both free throws. Fleming found Thomas at the top of the key for a deep-two, to lead 63-52 with 8:29 to play. With 4:53 on the clock, Sprague connected on a tough lay-in to make it a single-digit ball game at 68-59. Lindsey Wilson closed out the ballgame on a 9-6 run, taking a 77-65 victory. 

Women's hoops will be back in action on Friday at 4 P.M. CT against Pikeville (Ky.) and Saturday at noon against Virginia Lynchburg in the Campbellsville University Classic.
