COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Mid-South Conference named Blue Raider senior
Luiza Gonçalves the women's volleyball Setter of the Week on Monday.
The Arapongas, Brazil native garners weekly honors for the third time this season and seventh time for her career thanks to her efforts in directing the (RV) Lindsey Wilson offense to three wins last week.
Gonçalves started the week with 28 assists, five kills, three digs, two aces, and a block through two sets to help the Blue Raiders sweep Brescia (Ky.) on Wednesday.
On Friday, she passed out 45 assists and chipped in six kills, six digs, and two aces during Lindsey Wilson's four-set defeat of Bethel (Tenn.). Less than 24 hours later, Gonçalves tallied 29 assists, five kills, and three digs as the Blue Raiders rolled past Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) in straight sets.
For the week, Gonçalves averaged 11.33 assists per set and hit 0.467 with 16 kills. Her 102 assists give her 1,027 dimes on the year, which leads the Mid-South.
Luiza and her Blue Raider teammates close the regular season at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday, November 4 versus Campbellville (Ky.) at Biggers Sports Center.
