Men’s Soccer Heads to No.14 Bethel for Mid-South Conference Semifinals

COLUMBIA, Ky.- With a trip to the Mid-South Conference Championship game on the line, men's soccer heads to McKenzie, Tennessee to face No.14-ranked Bethel (Tenn.) at 6 P.M. CT inside Walter Butler Stadium.

Lindsey Wilson (12-2-1, MSC 4-2) is coming off of a 2-1 victory in the MSC quarterfinals against Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.). Dominic Ayella scored both goals in the win, picking up goals number nine and 10 on the season. Juliano Manfro and Denilson Macon each assisted on a goal, aiding in the Blue Raiders' victory. Francois Djiba presented as a barricade in the net, allowing just one goal in five shots faced to help advance the Blue Raiders to the semifinals match. 

In conference play, Ayella has posted five goals, alongside one assist, with Michael Rempel adding two goals and two assists. Djiba sits at 3-1-0 inside the net, allowing five goals and tallying 17 saves. Lindsey Wilson has outshot opponents 128 to 61 in MSC play, registering 52 shots on goal, yielding a .406 shots on goal percentage. 

Bethel holds a 10-1-2, MSC 4-1-1 record, advancing to the MSC semifinals after a 2-1 decision in overtime against Georgetown (Ky.). Ishmael Fuseini and Souleymane Balde scored the only two goals for the Wildcats, both assisted by Horace Avila Jr. Diego Camargo allowed one goal in one attempt, facing only one shot. 

Balde and Gregory Cousins have put up seven and six goals, respectively in conference play with Cousins tacking on six assists, and Balde tallying four. Camargo sits at 2-1-0 when defending the net, acquiring 17 saves and allowing four goals. The Wildcats have outscored opponents 20 to five in MSC play, registering 55 out of 100 shots on goal for a .550 shots on goal percentage. 

The last meeting between the two programs came on October 21, in Columbia when the previously No.5-ranked Blue Raiders took a 3-1 victory over the then No.18-ranked Wildcats. Knotted at 3-3 in the all-time conference series, Lindsey Wilson looks to take an edge after tonight's match.  

Men's soccer will take the field inside Walter Butler Stadium at 6 P.M. CT to take on No.14 Bethel for a chance at the MSC Tournament Championship game.
