COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 7-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team travels to Des Moines, Iowa, to take on No. 1 Grand View (Iowa) in the NAIA Football Championship Series Quarterfinals Saturday at Noon CT at Mediacom Stadium.
The Blue Raiders (10-1) defeated No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan 57-31 last week. Lindsey Wilson trailed 24-0 late in the second quarter before outscoring the Wildcats 57-7 the rest of the game.
Tate Rice was named the Offensive Player of the Game, throwing for a career-high 382 yards with four touchdowns. The Blue Raider defense forced six turnovers in the second half with five interceptions.
Khaleb Bridges earned the Defensive Player of the Game after recording a program-record four interceptions.
Grand View (11-0) enters Saturday's matchup having won its last 25 games dating back to last season. The Vikings defeated No. 19 Saint Francis (Ind.) 62-20 last week at home. Grand View held a 496-351 edge in total yards and limited Saint Francis to 40 yards rushing on 34 attempts. Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Year Jackson Waring threw for 247 yards with five touchdowns.
Saturday's matchup features two of the 10-best rushing offenses in the NAIA. Lindsey Wilson averages 216.7 rushing yards per game, ranking eighth. The Vikings rank 10th, averaging 214.0 rushing yards a game.
The Blue Raiders rank seventh in the NAIA, averaging 44.8 points per game, while Grand View is 11th with 43.0. Defensively, Lindsey Wilson allows 19.6 points per game, ranking 18th, while the Vikings allow just 13.2 points per game, which ranks third. The Vikings allow just 80.5 rushing yards per game, ranking third in the NAIA.
Saturday marks the first time in Lindsey Wilson football history that the Blue Raiders are playing the No. 1-ranked teams.
Saturday's matchup is the fifth all-time meeting between the two programs. All five meetings have been in the postseason. Grand View leads the all-time series 3-1 and 2-0 in Des Moines. The two teams last met in 2022 in the Quarterfinals, with Grand View picking up a 10-7 victory.
