Blue Raiders Improve to 10-2 on the Season

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Indiana University East 84-58 Friday night in Biggers Sports Center. 

Taylor Guess led the offensive front with 22 points on 10-of-17 shooting and seven rebounds. Meadow Tisdale contributed 15 points and eight boards on 6-of-12 from the field. Claire Fleming and Amelia Hodges rounded out the double-figure scoring 14 points and 12 points, respectively. 

Meadow Tisdale opened the Blue Raider scoring at 8:43 to answer an IU-East layup, evening the score at 2-2. With 7:09 on the clock, Fleming navigated through the paint for a tough and-one, converting on the free throw to give LWU a 7-4 lead. A layup from Red Wolves' Peyton Wells at 6:12 pushed IU-East up 8-7. Both teams went scoreless for 1:58 until Emily Cox buried a three at 4:14 for a 10-8 sway in favor of Lindsey Wilson. LWU ended the quarter on a 8-4 run to extend its lead to 18-14. 

Taylor Guess pulled an offensive rebound and connected on the put-back at 8:22 to open the second quarter scoring. From 7:20 to 2:11, Lindsey Wilson went on a 9-2 run where four different Blue Raiders scored, for a 29-18 advantage. A made free throw from Guess with 0:28 on the clock sent LWU into the halftime locker room with a 32-24 edge.

Out of the half, Thomas hits a cutting Tisdale through the middle of the paint at 9:38 to extend the lead to 34-24. Amelia Hodges came down the floor at 8:40, taking it straight to the rim to grow the lead to 36-24. From 8:23 to 6:11 the Red Wolves went on an 11-4 run, cutting the double-figure lead down to five at 40-35. Two free throws from Hodges at 2:02 sparked a 10-5 run that was capped off with a dime pass from Saniyah Shelton to Hodges on a three with one second on the shot clock and 0:08 on the game clock, growing the Blue Raider lead to 63-47 headed into the final ten minutes. 

Hodges picked up where she left off, burying another three at 9:43 on an assist from Fleming growing the lead to 66-47. Fleming found the bottom of the net on a three of her own at 8:50 assisted by Tisdale for a 69-50 advantage. With 5:30 to play, Shelton found herself with an offensive board and tough lay in to grow the lead to 79-52. Lindsey Wilson ended the game on a 5-4 run with a three from Grace Brewer, followed by a layup from Landree Moons to win 84-58. 

Women's basketball will be back in action on December 14, when they travel to Miami, Florida to face St. Thomas (Fla.) at 2 P.M. CT.
