WALESKA, Ga.- The Lindsey Wilson Baseball team dropped its season-opening doubleheader season-opener against No. 6 Reinhardt University (Ga.) Saturday at Ken White Field.
The Blue Raiders ( 0-2) dropped game one 12-1 and fell in game two 12-2.
In game one
Andres Duran tallied two hits and an RBI driving in the only Blue Raider run while three other Blue Raiders recorded a hit including a double from
Bryce Sidler.
Jonathan Phipps picked up the loss pitching two innings allowing nine runs on six hits with five walks and two strikeouts.
Jacob Jackson pitched three relief innings allowing just three runs on three hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
Andino and Stayton went 2-for-3 in game two while
Matthew Schultz hit a home run.
Glenn Simes picked up the loss allowing five runs on nine hits, one walk, and one strike out.
Kyle Lambert,
Clint Chappell, and
Ethan Fain came in as relief, combining for seven runs on seven hits.
Game 1: Reinhardt 12, Lindsey Wilson 1
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the first, Phipps recorded a strikeout ending the Eagles four-run inning. The Blue Raiders got on the board in the top of the fourth after Sidler moved Stayton to second on a ground out to the shortstop putting him in scoring position. Duran singled to right field driving in the only Blue Raider run of the game making the score 9-1. The Eagles added two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth for the 12-1 win in seven innings.
Game 2: Reinhardt 12, Lindsey Wilson 2
Tray Price got Lindsey Wilson on the board in the top of the first with an RBI-single to left field. Reinhardt responded in the bottom half of the inning tying the game at 1-1. The Eagles knocked in two more runs in the bottom of the second and fourth inning landing them a 5-1 advantage headed into the top of the eighth.
Matthew Schultz connected on a pitch sending it over the outfield wall landing his first homerun of the season, cutting the lead to 5-2. Reinhardt pushed across seven run in the home half of the eighth to enforce the run rule.
The Blue Raider baseball team will be back in action Sunday at Noon CST at Ken White Field.
