No. 6 Men's Tennis Cruises Past No. 22 Oakland City, 6-1

COLUMBIA, Ky. The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance against No. 22 Oakland City (Ind.), securing a 6-1 victory on Wednesday evening at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.

The Blue Raiders (6-3) captured the doubles point after strong performances at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Lucas Marques and German Delcanto got things started with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles, followed by Jaume Barcelo and Marcal Miret, who clinched the point with a 6-4 victory at No. 2. The No. 8-ranked doubles team from Oakland City, Nelson Ramos and Jose Andres Perez, managed to take the final match, defeating No. 16 Hans Schubert and Santiago Passoni, 6-4.

Holding a 1-0 lead, Lindsey Wilson quickly extended its advantage in singles action. German Delcanto set the tone with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win over Agustin Siufi at No. 1 singles. Jaume Barcelo followed up with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 victory over Nelson Ramos at No. 3, putting the Blue Raiders up 3-0.

No. 18 Santiago Passoni clinched the match for Lindsey Wilson, sealing a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles over Jose Andres Perez, making it 4-0. The Blue Raiders continued their strong performance as Lucas Marques took down Juanes Pinto 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5, and Marcal Miret added a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Samarbir Sidhu at No. 4.

Oakland City picked up its lone point in the final match of the evening as Aleksander Ivancevic topped Aldo Randazzo, 6-1, 6-2, making the final score 6-1 in favor of Lindsey Wilson.

The Blue Raiders return to action on the road this Sunday, March 16, at 2 p.m. CT against Marian University (Ind.) in Indianapolis.
