COLUMBIA, Ky. – No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis secured a dominant 7-0 victory over McPherson (Kan.) on Wednesday evening at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex. The Blue Raiders claimed the doubles point before sweeping all six singles matches. This win stretches their unbeaten streak to seven matches.
Lindsey Wilson (7-3) jumped ahead after strong performances in doubles. Lucas Marques and German Delcanto, ranked No. 50 nationally, opened with a 6-1 win at the No. 3 spot. Hans Schubert and Santiago Passoni, ranked No. 15, followed with a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles, securing the early advantage. Marcal Miret and Jaume Barcelo closed out doubles with another 6-3 win at No. 2.
The Blue Raiders carried that momentum into singles play. Hans Schubert quickly doubled the lead with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the top spot, followed by Barcelo's 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3. Passoni, ranked No. 10 nationally, extended the lead to 4-0 after winning 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4, clinching the match for Lindsey Wilson.
Miret, ranked No. 27, followed with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 performance at No. 5 before Delcanto secured a hard-fought victory over No. 63-ranked Oscar Brouwer at No. 2 singles, winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-1. Marques wrapped up the sweep with a 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 6.
The Blue Raiders are most likely back in action this Saturday. Originally scheduled to play Freed-Hardeman on Thursday, the match was postponed. Their contest against Campbellsville on Sunday, March 23, is expected to move to Saturday, March 22, pending official confirmation.
