Men's Golf Leads After First Day of LWC Spring Invite

COLUMBIA, Kentucky – The Lindsey Wilson men's golf team had a record-breaking performance on the first day Lindsey Wilson College Spring Invite at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson in Columbia, Kentucky. 

The Blue Raiders 'A' team is in first place after Day 1, posting a 35-under, 525 (268-257) through the first two rounds. Their total score of 525 set a new school record, and their second-round score of 257 also marked a program best. Leading all teams, the 'A' team has a Par 4 average of 3.84, scoring 13 under par. The 'B' team is in third place, with a 5-under par, 555 (279-276). The 'B' team sits behind the 'A' team in Par 5's, with an average of 4.65 (14 under), while the 'A' team averages 4.33, scoring 27 under. 

Rio Saigal leads all golfers with a score of 12 under par 128 (66-62).His 62 in the second is the second-lowest score m in Blue Raider history. Saigal's two-round score of 128 set a  program record. He leads the tournament in par-5 scoring at -8  and is tied for the most birdies with 13. His fellow teammates Stanley White (68-65) and Toby White (66-67) sit tied for fourth, with a 133. Stanley White is tied for the tournament lead in birdies with 13.  Johan Bredenkamp placed sixth swinging 134 (71-63), while and Polakrit Pawachai is eighth with a 135 (68-67).

James Gibb leads the Lindsey Wilson B team with a 135 (68-67) and is tied for eight. Adam Hawthorn is in 12th place with a score of 138 (69-69), and Maciej Janusiewicz is tied for 17th with 141 (72-69). Magnus Maahr is tied for 19th with a 142 (70-72) , Charlie Jones is 21st with a 143 (72-71) and Papangkorn Nuprachum - who is competing as an individual is tied for 24th with a 145 (71-74).

The Blue Raiders will return tomorrow for the final round of the Lindsey Wilson College Spring Classic at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson in Columbia, Kentucky.
