No. 6 Men’s Tennis Sweeps Campbellsville in Mid-South Conference Opener

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team opened Mid-South Conference play with a dominant 7-0 victory over Campbellsville on Saturday afternoon at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex. The Blue Raiders (8-3, 1-0 MSC) secured the doubles point and swept all six singles matches in straight sets for their second consecutive shutout win.

Lindsey Wilson set the tone early in doubles, winning all three matches. The No. 50-ranked duo of German Delcanto and Lucas Marques struck first with a 6-1 win on court three, followed by Marcal Miret and Jaume Barcelo earning a 6-1 victory at No. 2. Santiago Passoni and Hans Schubert, ranked No. 15 nationally, sealed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win at the top spot, giving the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead.

In singles play, Delcanto was the first to finish, defeating Manuel Pinheiro 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 to extend the lead to 2-0. Passoni, ranked No. 10 nationally, followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 39-ranked Sebastian Toledo at No. 3, marking a ranked win for the Blue Raiders.

Schubert added to the tally with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Nathan Boulard at No. 2, clinching the team victory at 4-0. Lindsey Wilson continued its sweep with Barcelo's commanding 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4, followed by No. 27-ranked Miret securing a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5. Marques closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.

Lindsey Wilson improves to 38-1 all-time against Campbellsville with the win.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 1 p.m. CT next Saturday, March 29, when they travel to Lebanon, Tenn., to take on Cumberland (Tenn.).
